The moment Gold became Champion of Johto, he knew something was wrong. Unbeknownst to the world, a secret society existed behind the heroic veil of the regions' Pokémon Leagues. Lead by a mysterious, nameless figure, the Pokémon League worked in his interest rather than for the good of the people. Valuing money over anything else, they stole from the world and masked their every action as being for the greater good. As Gold began unraveling the twisted secrets hidden withing the Pokémon League, he grew desperate to reveal the corrupt reality to the world. He was bound, however, by a mysterious oath that prevented him from ever acting against them. As he fell deeper into the demented tangles of the Pokémon League, he learned just how badly some Champions want out--and how much some Champions love their life of corrupt luxury. The Pokémon League was too powerful for one person to overcome. In exchange for traveling with her across Johto, Chance asks Lyla for a strange favor that makes their web of lies a million times more chaotic. Before they know it, these dorks are stuck lying left and right to cover the holes in their story just to try to make it seem like they've got their lives under control. And, well, they don't.
