You on the other hand became very powerful, and would do a lot of quests and errands for the people in the village. You did whatever they wanted and in return they gave you money and items.As tiring as it was, you got a pretty sick mansion with all the money. You're life was beginning to become a routine and you were getting bored. Until some skeletons came into your living room from a portal. As much as you wanted to slay them, your adopted daughter/niece and some friendly skeletons managed to convince you to let them stay until they can leave. What should be happening is them owing you a thanks for rescuing their so called, "Cousins" from a fire. Yet here you are offering them a place to stay, at your big ass mansion for the next eight months. So now you live with the people who abandoned you, along with their so called "family" who by the way don't really like you because you're a mage, but it's barely relevant to the plot so - What could possibly go wrong?
