This book is set in the year 3760. Everyone who turns eighteen in the year gets a classification test. Six boys take the test. Some are happy with their classification, and some have trouble accepting it. They get placed in one house because they are slightly different. Most littles are in a relationship with their caregiver, and these boys do not want this.

When classification day rolls around everyone's world is shaken, for better or for... well better. At least that is what the system is supposed to do. But what happens if you are one of those uncommon few that dont fit in with the standard classifications of Little, Caregiver, etc. Well Lachlan is about to find out. What happens if you try to cheat the system in an attempt to make your life better than what it is now.
