Ik heb besloten hem ook hier te plaatsen, in de hoop dat ik het zal vervolgen en omdat het dan voor iedereen gemakkelijk terug te lezen is, zonder dat er vele blogjes aangetikt hoeven te worden. Als Esmee van een verre oudtante een herenhuis in het hart van Den Bosch erft, weet zij meteen waar zij gaat studeren. Ze nodigt haar vriendinnetjes Ellis en Emmy uit om bij haar te komen wonen; alles beter dan een vieze studentenkamer. Dus zodra de zomervakantie tot een einde komt, staan de drie dames op de stoep van het iets wat excentrieke huis. Als zij het huis hebben opgeknapt, beginnen ze aan de overwoekerde stadstuin. En in het tuinhuisje vinden ze wel iets heel bijzonders; een boek vol met toverspreuken en een altaar vol met heksenspullen. Was dit van Esmee's oudtante? En waarom gebeuren er sindsdien vreemde dingen met de drie meiden?

Dit korte verhaal heb ik ingestuurd voor de verhalenwedstrijd in Weert 2016. 'De hervormde generatie' was één van de twaalf verhalen die werd uitgekozen om in een verhalenbundel gepubliceerd te worden.
