For me it helps me to fully engage with the character if I have a face and I think the readers might feel the same. However, my use of their pictures has no connection with the models themselves. I also like to add songs/videos to my chapters and most of the time the music reflects the chapter somehow, so it's definitely worth listening to them if you are able.
