[Completed] The Royal Guard of the Empire has faithfully served Byzantia for nearly three centuries now. Hand picked from foreign lands, these guardsmen hold no political ties, carry no agendas, and bare no creeds except to those who sit upon the Onyx Throne. They are vanguards, protectors, loyalists. They are Vangen. Change has come to the Empire. An Empress sits upon the throne now, destroying any who would rebel against her with both fire and iron. To the east, her loyal Vangen work to quash the newest rebellion, until a letter arrives one day, marked with the Empresses seal. The contents within bare only dread and disturbance for the Guardsmen. The Black Ministry, the former Emperor's cabal of Sorcerers, have turned against the Empress. The Vangen's return is bittersweet. The city they once called home is now a battlefield, every street a choke-point. Every home a possible nesting ground for rebels. The Royal Guard will have to fight tooth and nail to put down the Ministry and protect the Empress, but the deeper they go, the harder the lines begin to blur. In a world where good and evil does not exist, where then does a man's loyalty lie? (Comments and Feedback are always appreciated)

When did my life come to this? I wondered while I followed him on shaky legs. Be careful what you wish for. I wanted what would make my heart pump blood at an abnormal rate, what would make me high on adrenaline, and what would make me scream with excitement mixed with fear. I got all what I wanted alright, even more than I can ever wish for; all served to me in a golden bowl. He turned to me with an inhumane speed and I let out a muffled scream. He chuckled softly. "will you ever get used to my presence?" He said with an amused smile. His eyes glittering a dangerous red. I want my mummy, I thought. All emotions rolled into one and I just had to let it out in a way... Puking did it. All over his expensive black, leather sandals. He hissed at me dangerously, exposing his sharp fangs... I fainted. We've all had that one day, that leaves you craving for peace, and quiet. Liyana went in search of peace... And in return stumbled on a world she doesn't think exists... A world unseen, a world in which she'll be dragged deep into...

In a world of superheroes, public outcry from the recent tragic death of a teenage vigilante has resulted in the creation of a government-run program to train underage aged superheroes, Chiron Academy. If you're a minor with any sort of superhero aspiration, this stands as an ultimatum: you must participate, regardless of previous experience, training or mentoring. If you don't, you're done. This has seventeen-year-old Wyatt Hatch, a.k.a. Flyerman, a superhero with years of experience, counting the days until his 18th birthday and his inexperienced know-it-all teammates are not helping matters. ------- "This is such bullcrap. Unadulterated bullcrap," seethed Wyatt as he paced back and forth, more out of a desire to move than a conscious choice. "I can't believe we're being forced to be here. Literally the second I turn 18, I'm gone." He and Todd stood on a top of some high rise building Todd had found during a quick search on google maps. Something high enough that they wouldn't be overheard but not too tall. After a few stories, Todd always got nervous. "I mean," Wyatt continued to vent," at least your squad seems cool. You've got the Grey Ghoul's sidekick, for crying out loud. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with the squad that is so by the book, they stopped as we were leaving the campus today to check the dumb Hero's Handbook they gave us to make sure we were leaving correctly. It's called leaving a building. You've been doing it your whole life!" ------- #3 in science fiction 4/5/19! #2 in action 2/15/21 (pronounced 'kai-ron'. I googled it.)
