Miridian Firechisler is the daughter of the Elven King's new silversmith, and when she is sent to deliver the King's swords, she catches his eye. She develops a fondness for Thranduil as well, but she has a secret. A secret that she knows he would not take kindly to. Will she reveal her secret and face Thranduil, or will she let others suffer the consequences?

This story is set in modern day, and King Thranduil, his elves and realm have sailed to the west because there was no longer any place for them among men, and the realm they now live in is kind of an AU concept to concepts regarding what Tolkien made for his elves to pass on to after the Grey Havens. They live among but separate from the world of men. Rarely seen, and thought to be legends or myths by most. Thranduil set up a new realm and his son, Legolas, who had sailed earlier has come to live with his father once more. The king's once vast and beautiful forest in the west is now reduced to a heavily wooded park that is said to be haunted by the humans. He hides his kingdom with illusion, and the only visible thing to mankind is what a human will see as the ruins of an entrance to a garden that leads to a decrepit tower, unless he deems it otherwise. As a result, humans have vandalized the parts they see, paranormal/thrill seekers go there to get scared off, and it has become a favorite make out spot for those who live the area. Once a woman named Cassandra comes to the visible portions of his realm the wheels are set in motion for a story within a story that may change the future for them both.

The stench of death and burning flesh chokes the air. The Shadow, an ancient evil thought once extinguished, is upon them. Legolas, still naive in his youth, volunteers to aid the men of Rhovanion from an insurgent of Easterlings and other minions of the flooding Shadow. In his absence, Adlanniel and Thranduil strike up a lascivious relationship. But why? What is it about each other they cannot resist? Why do they go so far despite their better judgments and love for Legolas? Is it truly lust and desire that drives them?
