They'd never thought there would be a day when an agreement was reached between them. They especially had never thought that there would be a day they'd have to say goodbye.

In my opinion, canon Dream is a mary-sue, Nightmare is a victim who lives to show how good his brother is, and all of the endings fail, in my eyes, to tie up the loose ends in the story in a satisfactory way. Remember, this is just my opinion! Similarly, most characters depicted in this story vary slightly from their respective canons, this has been down to fit the story better.
