This is a collection of poems I wrote, but the first one is very dear to my heart. It is about my mother, who has been suffering through cancer and multiple sclerosis. She has recently passed, and this is to honor her.

Nissa whispered, her mouth moving against his neck, "But that's the point, little one." Her teeth extended, and with ease they broke the skin on his neck. It felt odd at first, as though he was in a pleasant dream. But then, the fangs began to burn. Hotter and hotter they became, and a pain seared through him. He began to scream as she drank his blood, and it drove her into a kind of euphoria. The fresh, warm blood against her lips, coupled with his delectable screams, fed her sadistic nature. She sighed from sheer pleasure. But after a minute or so, she could feel his life force beginning to ebb away, and his screams became less pronounced. The title Pirate Queen is one rarely uttered, and only with the utmost reverence. For she is the being of nightmares, the threat whispered by mothers to keep disobedient children in line. Prince Leopold has lived his entire life secluded from the horrors of the world. Although he has trained his whole life to master swordcraft and diplomacy, he lacks real world experience. The rumors of the Pirate Queen and other creatures of nightmare were just that: rumors. Until the day that legend becomes reality, and the paths of prince and pirate cross.
