For this, Phoenix kidnaps Tobi and Valor's mother one night to lure them into his trap. Expectedly, the girls try to find him with the help of unexpected allies. Artemis- a human dragon and the last of his kind. Vale-an ice elemental, blind in one eye and bound powers with a cat. And Jered- the brother Tobi and Valor never knew they had. The sisters then realize that they're not the only ones that are benefited from trying to defeat Phoenix. A war could be approaching.

"Alec, you're drunk and confused. You don't want this," he said, but didn't try to move away. I could feel his breath on my lips, only a few inches separating our bodies. I looked up at him, the dim lighting making his eyes the deepest midnight blue, and he was staring down at me. "I don't know what I want." Then I leaned in and kissed him.
