Lenny has spent most of his life being hospitalized. But once the doctors tell him that his time is limited, and any breath could be his last, he regrets that there were so many things he didn't do. Tim's life has plunged straight down once his girlfriend left him for another man. He started drinking, lost his job and was kicked out of his apartment. He lived with his parents for a while, but all the drinking damaged his liver badly, and the doctors tell him that unless they find a donor, nothing can be done for him.

After her mother's death, Marcy loses her will to live and forgets the reason why she loved life in the first place. After finding a final note from her mother, she finally breaks. Her childhood friend, whom she nicknamed Lavender, decides to make it his mission to remind Marcy about all the good things in life, with the help of her drunken Uncle, a grumpy dog and a van that should have been disposed of five years ago. They embark on a journey as Marcy tries to find herself again, and find out more about her mother.
