He was contempt with rotting away somewhat and to slowly be forgotten. However, one fateful morning while on patrol after being woken by nightmares, turns out to be more eventful then expected. Especially when the Avengers are involved. Peter ends up in between the fight of Loki and the Avengers. Only to have Loki's magic backfire at him when he tries to save Steve. With the incident, Peter gets more then he was expecting, nor wanted.
