after the fight with the royals, seraphina finds out about John's ability, he's so guilt ridden that he uses seraphina's suppressed power to rewind all the way to the beginning of the year, where only his conscious slightly remembers. there are huge alterations to this story and, if you havent noticed, it's not canon. in this story, John has broken the limit and his power is vastly increased.
