After the initial setback of Cortana's return, her affect caused Captain Lasky of the UNSC Infinity to order any on board ship AI to enact Cole Protocol. As AI Hera initiated a jump to Slipspace the crew of the ship Spirit of Hope went into cryo stasis with Sierra-G145, one of the last Spartan IIIs, on board. It has been 4 years since last contact with Gamma company or the UNSC. The war with the Covenant factions and Cortana still grows, but Hera doesn't know where she's landed.

When the Janus key has been completed and the UNSC saw a Forerunner outpost that is far away from the Sol system. They sent the Infinity and her fleet along with the Arbiter's Swords of Sanghelios fleet of the Shadow of Intent to investigate. Now what they find leaves them in shock. That there is a planet that is inhabited by Human and Faunas and if threats that lurk in the planet. What will happen to them.

After ensuring the escape of the Autumn, Noble Six fights to survive on a Covenant infested planet where he believes is his final mission. But, ONI believes he is to valuable and has a mission perfect for him. ONI puts him in a new program called Project Freelancer, he will observe the new project and take it down if necessary. Through out his mission Noble Six comes to realize that it may take more time to complete than he thought. And while doing so he can't help but make a couple friends along the way. With these new friends and teammates he can't help but feel a little bit more human. The Ark was destroyed and with it, the threat of the Flood for the Galaxy. The Covenant splintered and disordered.
