Matt and Mello have a durable friendship; one that cannot be broken. However, as time passes at Wammy's house, things become a bit peculiar between the two. Their status of being 'just' friends becomes unclear and decisions must be made as one of the Wammy brothers must take on the role of becoming L's successor. Soon Mello finds himself under a lot of pressure as he finds himself in a difficult situation; Matt or the replacement of L?

Staring Mello, Matt and Near, who are still at Wammy's House, this takes place before the Kira case. Matt x Mello in the original Death Note universe after the death of L. Warning: Contains some swearing and triggers, being depression and suicidal thoughts. I never thought that that awful smell would end up being one of my favorites but it is, if only because to me, it smells like home. I lay on the bed, sobbing until I passed out. This isn't home, it never was. My home is a beautiful freckled red head with a video game addiction and only now do I realize that nowhere will ever be home again. It's taken me a really long time to realize but, home isn't, never was and never will be a house or an apartment or any place for that matter. Matt and Mello get kicked off a Wammy house trip, leaving them with little to do. Matt decides that now would be a good time to toy with Mello but things backfire as claps of thunder draw near. Soon Mello finds himself dealing with a terrified Matt who seems to have some ulterior motives for his behavior.
