Katie is Fate's hosts and watches over the universe to try to stop Shadow's advances. She was watching over one set in particular set that had caught Shadow's attention when she fell into one of them. She meets the members of the Duwiau Bach, and Mel a former host. Together they work to halt Shadows advances while friendships, love, and bonds get tested and Katie learns the nature of her job and abilities.
