It's the year 2014, (Y/N) (M/N) (L/N) and Benedict Cumberbatch, who just so happens to be the best of friends, go to the Alerdale Mansion to act for the movie Crimson Peak. (Y/N) will be acting as Edith, Benedict as Thomas Sharpe and (Your bestfriend) as Thomas Sharpe's sister. (lol I literally forgot her name...)

Allerdale Hall had to be the creepiest place (y/n) ever set foot on. She didn't want to be there, but she had no choice. As her father's assistant in his book-writing process, she has had to travel around the world documenting details about the mysterious places they have visited. (Y/n) believes Allerdale Hall will be yet another bore, but her perceptions will be changed when she meets the lonely spirit of the mansion's owner. I'm taking alot of inspiration from the Casper film for this, but it will be much darker. I hope you enjoy!

This fic follows the plot of Guillermo Del Toro's "Crimson Peak" but with alterations. The reader is a young, independent woman who gains the attention of a mysterious Thomas Sharpe. It basically follows the movie except for a happier ending and a lesser, but still prevalent, degree of Gothic tropes/dark tones. I am a huge fan of the movie/Tom/Guillermo and mean to only embrace and give my own romanticized take on the film! - I would also like to acknowledge that I have not written this story, it was originally posted by an author on archives of our own
