Loucas and the French originated boy he has fallen for, Emery Dansereau who is the local bank president's son, end up having a romantic relationship they both have to hide. The relationship ends briefly though, as in August 1946 Loucas gets drafted for a year, the same month his 18th birthday took place. Emery, who went through the military few years ago, promises to wait for Loucas who he has quickly but surely fallen in love with. What happens, when the lovers meet again after a year and being a year older? Did their relationship survive the distance?
