(Set before the film The Boy) Ruby Carter, looking for a quick, easy getaway has managed to find herself a small job looking after an 8 year old boy in a remote English village for a few months. However, upon arriving at the Heelshire manor to Ruby's amusement she finds herself looking after a porcelain doll with a set of rules that must be followed. What could possibly go wrong?

This version has some changes in characterisation. Brahms is a little more human, and less psychotic, and Greta is now Laurie (due to copyright minimisation) is a little more vulnerable. The story begins 2 weeks into Laurie's employment, one day before the Heelshire's commit suicide, five days before her life is changed irrevocably. This story line explores how things might have been had Laurie and Brahms had time to get to know each other, and how Brahms reacts and responds to Laurie's more understanding approach to his situation. Brahms's monster is made .... can it be unmade? Contains sex and swearing. I have changed Cole to Joel, and Sandy to Amanda.

This takes place after Greta escaped the Heelshire Mansion, where a few months later, another girl named Aiza gets to stay. Will she change Brahms or will he change her? Can Brahms finally get his own happiness?

As the days pass, Brahms falls for Evelyn instead of Greta because of the way Evelyn looked after the doll, following each rule perfectly and playing with him from time to time.
