「 WATTYS 2019 WINNER 」 the failings of a surgically healed heart, is a series of autobiographical poems arranged into six thematic parts to form a collection which examines the idea of the collective and how that informs individual. i. family an exploration of my relationship with the men and boys in my household and how that has worsened, whilst the opposite is true of the rest of my family ii. immigrant an exploration of the immigrant experience and how as the first child of igbo parents; i was the intermediate between the east and west iii. spirituality an exploration of growing up in the catholic faith and an examination of all its faults and hypocrisies. iv. loving an exploration of friendship, artistry, sexuality, failed romance, but most importantly self-love and all it entails. v. womanhood an exploration of how in many ways puberty was a bitter sweet reality check along with everything that it entailed. vi. catharsis a reflection on the worst period of time in my life where, with hindsight, i come to terms with harsh and lovely realities of life and death.

i want to tell you a story. it's about you and me. and him __________________________________ spiderweb is a story written in free verse and prose that begins where most stories don't-the end. at the end of the book a girl is being judged by unamed persons about something she did; something she knows is terrible but what did she do? and why did she do it? chapter by chapter, the girl reveals the events and thoughts that culminated to this mysterious sin -------------------- updates every friday :)

Princess Nydine comes from the traditional country of Yaremar. She spends her days reading philosophy. She wishes to be named the heir as she believes it is her rightful duty. She has few true allies and in the end might find she has none at all. Princess Peruthia is a master of strategy. She prides herself on being a General more so than the next ruler of Proelitira. She is trained to follow her instinct as long as it gets her a victory. What will happen when her instincts tell her to question what she grew up being told. Can they learn to understand as well as trust one another? What will they both do in the face of betrayal? *Each chapter will switch from Nydine to Perum's perspectives.
