PREVIEW ONLY | WATTYS WINNER 2023 | Sixteen-year-old Felix Carver carries the ghosts of magicians in his blood. He can communicate with them and use the magical abilities they wielded against monsters when they were alive. His newfound power would be pretty cool, if the ghosts in question weren't his family and the man who killed them. Death doesn't stop Felix's siblings from finding new ways to annoy him from beyond the grave, nor his parents from doing their best to protect him from the dangerous side of his new life. Felix learns that his family belonged to an organization of magicians called the Bright Guardians, while their killer was a part of the Guardian Uprising that tried to overthrow the organization eight years earlier. The Bright Guardians take Felix in, hoping they can train him to fight monsters and control the ghosts living inside of him. Felix barely understands the magical world his family kept secret from him, but he does make friends with other odd cases at the Bright Academy. Troublemaker Arisa Tamura is struggling to control her ability to animate objects while under the influence of cursed bracelets, while the smart but reserved Mason Briggs is a witch who was transformed into a demon as a last resort to save his life. Together, the three of them realize that Uprising spies are still hiding among the Guardians. They have no idea who they can trust, but they do know who they can't: a Guardian named Ernest Abernathy, who stole a powerful wand from Mason's parents before killing them. Felix, Mason, and Arisa must construct a plan to steal back the wand without any help. If their plan fails, Ernest will turn the Guardians against them and have them locked up, or executed. If they succeed, they'll have one more weapon in the fight against the Uprising's army. Either way, the approaching war is inevitable. Be warned this book contains death, violence, and an above average amount of spiders.

"This book speaks to anyone with a neurodivergent brain, that may feel like an alien here on earth. I swear Browning made me laugh and cry and question reality...sometimes all in the same sentence." -JD Todd, author The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it. Potto is dim-witted, extremely forgetful and incredibly naïve. He wasn't always this way. Aye-Aye is devilishly shrewd and has boozed his way into a comfortable existence of incompetence and sleaze. How they ended up being two of the most wanted aliens in the galaxy is anyone's guess. Chased down by every oddball bounty hunter in the known universe, and befriended by a libidinous assassin, a fire-breathing reptilian, and a telepathic tree, their misadventures take them past Earth (the mall planet), to a floating sex circus, a planet of killer stuffed animals, an underground spaceship impound lot, and to a planet of reasonably priced bungalows. All while flying around in a ship powered by the brain waves of a psycho killer. A great prophecy proclaims that only "one of light, and one of dark" can save the universe from the dictatorship of The Node. That can't be Potto and Aye...Potto doesn't know what the word prophecy means, and neither know how to spell it. Part sci-fi epic, part absurd dark comedy, I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room is a comment on human behavior, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. But way more fun than that sounds. So, do up your space seatbelts...it's going to be a bumpy ride. Despite the lack of potholes in space. (Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed! Enjoy! Ray is low on time, luck, and hope; his only chance is an artifact that may not even exist. But upon meeting Landon, Ray is beginning to believe he might find all four. ***** Cambions are doomed to tragedy. They are weak, sickly creatures that rarely live to see their twentieth year. Ray refuses to resign himself to that fate. Upon learning of the Crimson Sheath-an artifact capable of preserving his life-Ray is prepared to fight, steal, and kill to get his hands on it. He is not prepared for Landon. Landon is an orphan with no memories of his parents, the only inheritance left to him a dagger, sleeping in a crimson sheath. Though he has no love of bloodshed and no use for a dagger, Landon isn't about to let Ray take his only link to his forgotten history, even if that means following the cambion past the edge of the world and into the shadow beyond. Content Warnings: Violence, semi-graphic gore, character deaths, profanity, mild drug and alcohol usage, abuse discussed but not shown, and morally-questionable people doing morally-questionable things.

When Arabelle gets curious and sneaks into a forbidden area of the castle, she discovers a deadly secret: her bloodline is sacred, dating back to a legend surrounded by the one thing she knows not to be true. Unsure what to do, she gets caught up in a series of events that lead to her being hidden and whisked away from the only familiar place she knew. After making some unlikely allies, Arabelle sets off on a journey to find the legend of the last dragon egg. Fate has something big in store for her; will she be able to withstand the pressure of it all? There is one thing Arabelle needs to learn to survive this new place... The Magnetron Chronicles, Volume 1 Phineas Magnetron is an eccentric Nineteenth Century inventor blessed with a strange gift he doesn't completely understand. As a former soldier and current member of the Hogalum Society, an inscrutable secret organization of crime fighting adventurers, Phineas is no stranger to peril and derring-do. In the process, he not only horrifies his Society brothers, but unearths a haunting and compelling mystery. About The Magnetron Chronicles: The Magnetron Chronicles is a serialized steampunk tale told in the grandiose style of Jules Verne, but with satirical Twainian wit. Chapter by chapter, the story builds as quirky new characters join the fray and perplexing new mysteries and situations arise. Traveling the globe, Phineas Magnetron and his Hogalum Society encounter suspicious policemen, mentally ill criminals, wood-craving aliens, a witch doctor, a mad oracle, and a cross-dressing female matador, among many others. However, this "steam dream team" always manages to triumph over impossible odds and improbable obstacles as they preserve order in a disorderly world. A power kept secret for 2000 years. A woman who stands to lose everything. India. When a nun is burned alive on the sacred ghats of Varanasi, and the stone she carried is stolen, an international hunt is triggered for the relics of the early church. Forged in the fire and blood of martyrs, the Pentecost stones have been handed down through generations of Keepers who kept their power and locations secret. Until now. The Keepers are being murdered, the stones stolen by those who would use them for evil in a world transformed by religious fundamentalism. Oxford University psychologist Morgan Sierra is forced into the search when her sister and niece are held hostage. She is helped by Jake Timber from the mysterious ARKANE, a British government agency specializing in paranormal and religious experience. Morgan must risk her own life to save her family, but will she ultimately be betrayed? From ancient Christian sites in Spain, Italy and Israel to the far reaches of Iran and Tunisia, Morgan and Jake must track down the stones through the myths of the early church in a race against time before a new Pentecost is summoned, this time powered by the fires of evil. The first in the ARKANE series, PENTECOST is a fast-paced thriller that explores the edges of faith against a backdrop of early Christian history, archaeology and psychology.
