Sixteen-year-old Billy McCracken is the type of kid most parents dream of having - bright, hardworking, and responsible. Unfortunately she's also plain, overweight, and NOT the boy that her parents had hoped for, which seems to cancel out everything else. This leaves her overlooked and shunted aside while they focus on her flashy, dramatic older sister, who somehow manages to get anything she wants - including the charming, talented young musician that she knows Billy is infatuated with. But just as Billy reaches her breaking point, she's offered an unexpected opportunity, and decides to take it, leaving Southern California, and her old life, behind. Several years later, BVB bassist Ashley Purdy is dealing with some issues of his own, having realized that his rock-star lifestyle isn't everything that he'd thought it would be, and that he needs something more than parties, booze, and wannabe Barbies in his life. While he's trying to figure things out, he meets a young woman who seems oddly familiar to him, though he's not sure why. As they get to know each other, and work through their individual problems, it begins to dawn on him that not everything that glitters is gold, and that, just maybe, the most valuable treasures can come in the simplest packages.
