عدت رسالة الغفران نصا تاسيسيا للرسالة القصصية الخيالية الماورائية فانعقدت على جدلية الرسالة و القصة بناء على الاختراق المتبادل بينهما . فلئن كانت رسالة ابي العلاء جوابية على رسالة ابتداء أرسلها اليه أحد أدباء العصر وهو علي بن منصور الأديب الحلبي المعروف بابن القارح، فان أبا العلاء اخترق جنس الرسالة من الداخل بواسطة القصة الخيالية الماورائية. و لذلك جاءت رسالته أدبية تذرع فيها بالفن قصا و تخييلا وهزلا لمقاربة قضايا متنوعة شغلته بالتقرير و التصريح في اللزوميات و بالتقدير و التلميح في رحلة الغفران.
