What if Sonic had died instead of Shadow in order to save the Earth from the Ark's crash landing? How would Tails, Amy, Knuckles, or even Shadow be able to hold it, being the closest ones to the blue hero? Amy Rose contracts N.I.D.S. Now immune compromised, the only person who can be around her without risking her life, is Shadow the Hedgehog. As Tails searches for a cure, Shadow offers to take care of Amy in his secret cottage away from civilisation-Shadow being the perfect candidate in doing so, having taken care of Maria while she suffered from the disease. As the two begin to get to know each other on a more personal level, feelings for one another begin to bloom, causing a world of internal confusion. Shadow-wanting to keep it professional-with Amy conflicted about her feelings for Sonic. Will the two end up confessing to one another? This is I Can't Breathe Without You.

Shadow has been acting strange after his last visit with the psychiatrist that he forcefully accepted by order of G.U.N as a treatment for his agents so that they are mentally well after each mission. After that session a part of him that has been repressed finally comes out of his mental prison on that full moon releasing that part of him that he has always loved to a certain pink hedgehog from the beginning.
