Following the Fairy Tail Guild's return from Elodas, Lucy finds that her rent is due soon and needs to quickly come up with some Jewel before her landlady kicks her out. Thank goodness she has an awesome partner, and Natsu agrees to company her on a mission that will help her cover the rent. Only when they're about to leave Lucy notices Lisanna and Mira in a fight and decides to invite the youngest Strauss sibling on the mission with her and Natsu, pushing aside her misgivings about the white haired-mage. Despite the feelings of impending doom Lucy's been having, her mission with Lisanna and Natsu goes surprisingly well...Until it doesn't. Apparently, the team bit off more they could chew when they picked the mission and when Natsu gets severely injured during the fighting, Lucy knows it's up to her to save her friends and sacrifices herself for the greater good hoping her friends would come back to save her, Unknowingly subjecting herself to years of torment and experimentation. When help never comes, Lucy slowly starts to lose herself, letting hatred and anger twist her into something dark and dangerous, so that she can save herself and the others trapped with her. Soon she forgets all about her mission to protect others, her only goal in life being to amass power so that she will never be weak again and forget all about her past. It isn't until the GMG that she comes face to face with the very thing she's spent the last decade running from.
