"I love your hair," he muttered into my ear. "It makes me think of fire," he drew in the cigarette, letting out a puff seconds later. I bite my lips, unsure if it's a good or bad thing, "Sounds like a good thing?" "No, Eve Owsinski. Fire burns." He stumps the cigarette in a tray. "Oh." "But you can burn me," He leans in, slightly kissing my lower lips, I could taste the cigarette in his breathe. " And my ashes will still love you." I take his cold lips in, hoping that the actual fire heading for us doesn't destroy us. __________ Eve moves back to Crescent falls to live with her family, after the passing of her godmother. She is about to discover that in the world there are two sets of beings, the pure ones and the haematophagous.
