"Light up my darkness," he murmured against her bare flesh. His fingers trailed up her arm, leaving a blazing fire beneath them. His lips pressed softly against her shoulder and her eyes fluttered closed, accepting his touch. "Let go and I'll take away all of the pain." She desperately wanted to free herself from the torture of the heat, of the shift, of the sadness, but she pushed his firm chest away from her. She yearned to finally fulfill her place among the divine. She desired to guide and protect the species. She wished to eliminate the Challengers. The longer she endured the pain, the more power she would attain to help her fulfill her responsibilities. To the men who watched her ascend, it looked as if she was interacting with thin air, but she knew he was there with her. She smiled softly at him, caressing his cheek. "My Darkness, let the pain fester within me. I crave it." * The Betrayal is a part of The Marking Trilogy and cannot be read as a stand-alone book. The Marking must be read first.* Cover by @Finding_Bria

(This story is my first Dragon Age Inquisition story but has undergone revision and a few changes) Talila, a mid-twenties to late twenties year old woman with a kind heart and is a huge fan of the Dragon Age series, though she keeps it under lock and key. She adores the series but when she somehow ends up in Thedas (around the time of the Inquisition) things become complicated when she finds herself falling for one of the members of the Inquisition, after being rescued by them, but unknown to them her time being where she was she experienced Lyrium and the nasty addiction that comes with it was truly in a not so best situation and as a consequence has a hard time letting anyone in, except for one person: Cullen. Cullen knows Talila does not belong to his world, but once it comes to his attention that she struggles with herself and with Lyrium withdrawals, he finds himself all but jumping to her aid; Slowly he develops feelings for her and refuses to give up on her, regardless of what she says or does, but when Talila starts acting odd, combined with bouts of unexplained rage, it swiftly comes to his attention that her family lineage has more secrets then even Talila is aware of.

These Characters and Photos are a product of and owned by EA and Bioware. Before Dragon Age Inquisition was released, I felt like Cullen deserved to have his own romance, after all he had been through. In the third act of Dragon Age 2, the tensions in the city brewed and bubbled between the Templars and Mages. In the middle of it, Knight Captain Cullen was trying to keep order. Rumors on the streets whisper his Knight Commander mad, but she was the one the Order trusted to lead them and yet he was not so confident in her sanity any longer. Then he gets an unexpected visitor, wishing to warn him that they would be in the city. The famed Hero of Ferelden, arrived unannounced and traveling alone. Solona (Female, Human, Mage.) was as beautiful as he remembered. It was only when he saw her again that he realized, he never stopped caring for her. She had grown, matured, and she seems to remember how much he liked her all those years ago. Solona came to the city, looking for someone whom she thought she could trust and she wanted answers. She traveled alone, drawing as little attention to her as possible, so her quarry would not flee. She did not expect to run into Cullen ever again, but he was here. He was not the scared boy nor a tortured, angry prisoner he once was. He had become so much more and she did not know if she could stay away from his hidden passion that she still remembers fondly today.

What happens when a wolf-shifter somehow ends up in the world of the Dragon Age series, and falls head over heels for the devilishly handsome ex-Templar turned Military commander of the Inquisition? Trouble. Tala is a wolf-shifter, also sometimes called a werewolf, but most of the time she's your average tom-boy twenty-three year old woman who enjoys what most tom-boys do. She can deck a man full on in the face sending him running, she can outdrink most of the males in the pack, and she ain't afraid to get a little dirty when it comes to working hard on her grandfather's farm. But when fate throws a loop her way by sending her into the world of Thedas, her status of being an unmated she-wolf is called into question as she involuntarily starts falling head over heels for a man who should be her worst enemy. Cullen Stanton Rutherford is the commander of the Inquisition's forces, military advisor to the Herald turned Inquisitor, and a former Templar. So when Tala comes into Thedas via Rift, the last thing he expected to hear about was her being a wolf-shifter. Naturally being a former Templar, his training demands he slay her before she becomes a threat, but something else within him just won't allow him to harm her. But when Tala's death comes after the destruction of Haven, it is only by the intervention of the Maker that Tala returns to the living, but it comes with a price. Tala loses her wolf form and becomes an everyday normal human. Now struggling with being a pure human, Tala must come to terms with needing to rely on her new friends for help and finds that sometimes being an average human can lead to some pretty amazing experiences.
