With the help of a bat wielding stranger, she barely escapes the overrun city. Together, they just might survive long enough to find a safe haven. The zombie apocalypse is a strange time to be alive. Dead Circuits is a retro cyberpunk-horror story that drags zombies into the dystopian future! An artificial intelligence possesses the body of a young man as part of an experiment gone wrong. When its still-new flesh-body is killed, the AI believes it will die alongside its host... But death, it turns out, is just the beginning. The synthetic consciousness reanimates the corpse that has become its prison, and begins searching for a way to escape...or to capitalize on its condition. Standing in the undead AI's way are a suicidal cop plotting his wife's death as well as his own, an ultra-religious hacker determined to find God online, and a cyborg gangbanger looking to take down the corporation that killed his father. These damaged souls will have to find a way to overcome their differences and find common cause, before their city is literally consumed by a nightmare born from cutting-edge technology. Acknowledgements: To the saints Gibson and Romero and Barker, who inspired this hybrid offspring. Author's Note: When it comes to the cyberpunk aspect of this serial novel, I wanted it to have a definite retro feel. Meaning, some of the tech might seem antiquated (a homage to classic cyberpunk fiction) in light of recent advancements in the real world. But I also wanted to mix in extrapolations of the future impact of current technology and world events. As for the horror side of this tale, well...everything's better with zombies. But I also wanted to give them a twist. Too many zombie stories have a biological virus as the catalyst for the rising dead. I wanted to have technology gone rampant as the spark for the unliving. I hope you enjoy the results of this cyberhorror mashup!

They say the end of the world started in a military lab. Some poor bastard who'd agreed to take part in one of those experiments-for-cash programs, signing his body and blood away, all the in the name of science, just so he could afford to buy food for his kids. 'They were all meant to be given placebos', they said. Except he wasn't given a placebo. He was given something else, something terrible, whether on purpose or by accident, I guess we'll never know, but what I do know is that it never started with him. It started with her. With Alice. My Alice.
