A short story written for the Red Feather Award Summer 2019 Writing Contest. @RedFeatherAward Also a first draft- The gates between the world has been opened. Creatures long forgotten have been released. Creatures good... and evil. Creatures seeking revenge. Grizela West (Griz) is definitely not normal. She doesn't even look human, which led to her being thrown out of home at an early age. After accidently killing a person (she closed a lid on a bin that was later emptied with a man inside), she is on the run from everything she has known for most of her life. The people who she has grown up with, who has helped her, are hunting her. They aren't the only ones. A being, one of those who has been imprisoned until being released, wants revenge. It won't stop until it dies, or until those who it hunts is dead. After finding a scent that is different but similar to its own, and to those it hunts, it will search far and near for the owner.

'She could become their savour - or their destruction.' Rumours surrounding the untamed might of a young fire dragon are spreading across the continent of Ballasmara like wildfire. The seemingly limitless flames drive a variety of leaders towards the juvenile dragon to use as a weapon to gain an edge over the enemy after generations of fighting. Ember's fire doesn't stop growing in power and poses a threat for the very dragon that it lives inside, but external forces are also at work which will change her forever. Pressure continues to soar as the war continues to drive all the dragon species towards extinction, including her siblings. As three sides struggle to gain the dragoness' support; consequences of whatever choice she makes will ripple throughout her life and world. But she must choose, or outside forces may choose for her if she doesn't. The deities are watching - when they aren't arguing. ~~~ Completed! Most would hate her life. Try to escape it. Experiment M.153 loves it. She loves the thrill of watching those that were weak being taken away, eliminated from the program. But above all, Ore loves working for the humans - they were trying to protect the wild dragons from threats that they were oblivious from. With the time of their first deployment imminent, the metal dragons must learn to co-exist with each other. Ore must master the control of her feeble powers effectively or be eliminated whilst learning to survive in a perilous world. As time continues, there will be one question that all the dragons will have to answer: What comes first? Your job, your life, the humans, or the wild dragons? - - - Updates are now randomly - I'm concentrating upon editing Eternal Fire
