Ces pouvoirs ne se sont pas encore apparu et son adolescence sera difficile, apaiser seulement par sa rencontre avec Tess Mercer ( Lena Luthor est parfois nommé Tess Mercer dans les comics ) et le soutiens indéfectible de sa soeur Alex. Quand ses pouvoirs apparaissent enfin, celle ci décide de mettre ses pouvoirs au service du bien et de devenir Supergirl. A l'âge adulte, devenu une belle jeune femme mais ayant perdu contact avec Tess, elle deviendra journaliste pour CatCo avant de faire la rencontre de sa nouvelle patronne, nommé Lena Luthor. Mais aucune des deux ne semblent se rappeler de l'autre...

Kara Danvers, brillante étudiante en journalisme à qui, en apparence, tout semble réussir, se retrouve à devoir faire face à un coriace dilemme : accompagner son petit ami à l'autre bout du monde ou rester auprès de sa sœur et de ses amis. En plein milieu de cette période de doute, Kara fait la rencontre de Lena grâce à un de ses plus proches amis. Le coup de foudre amoureux aussi bien qu'amical est instantané mais, entre les fêlures cachées de l'une et les nombreuses incertitudes de l'autre, leur histoire semble compromise, encore plus lorsque leurs passés respectifs décident de s'entremêler, menaçant de les séparer à jamais... Réussiront-elles à se retrouver ?

Kara débarque à National City. Elle a décroché un poste d'enseignante dans une école primaire prestigieuse. Là, elle va faire la connaissance d'un jeune garçon, Adam, dont l'attitude va l'interpeller. Il semble distant et très renfermé sur lui-même. Et quand elle fait la connaissance de sa mère, elle comprend pourquoi. Elle est froide, distante et antipathique. Pourtant, Kara sent qu'il y a autre chose derrière ça et elle compte bien découvrir ce qui se cache derrière le masque imperturbable de Tess Mercer.
