I managed to get to #1 on Wattpad for Fantasy as well as Adventure in a month and a half. After four months, I had 1 Million reads and a year later I had 5 million. I worked really hard and have been very lucky, but I'm sure that following these simple rules helped a lot!

With time, all things change. You can't speed it up. You can't slow it down. For those of us caught in the gentle stream of time, then, what are we to make of it? How will it taste? Will it be the bitterest gall? Or the sweetest of honey? This is a story I wrote in participation in the BirdLife project that Wattpad is putting together this summer. Btw, I should warn you, for some of my followers out there, there is absolutely no science fiction or fantasy in this one. Nothing weird at all. Wow! How about that?! :DD

Wayward: Fetching Tales from a Year on the Road is a hilarious and heartfelt ride around the world, wherein the author eats dog, obsesses about chewing gum, gets stranded on an island, does dirty things, reveres rock n roll and muses about everything from death to Star Trek to the President Obama to jail time. Now available on Wattpad, Wayward has been a surprise hit at both iTunes and Amazon, reaching #1 on both retailers' travel charts. It chronicles a year in the life of the author, who lived in 12 countries over 12 months, one month at a time. It's kind of funny, kind of sad and kind of weird. Forbes describes the book: "Wayward isn’t strictly a travelogue or a guide by any means. The book reads like a diary, with chapters dedicated to everything from watching Obama’s inauguration in an Argentinian bar, to viewing a dubbed version of the newest Star Trek film in France and trying to understand the plot despite not speaking French, to remembering the ecstasy and pain of his first love just before breaking up with his then-boyfriend in Berlin, to eating dog in Vietnam, to his experience working with Patti Smith in New York. Gates’ lively, conversational writing style bring all the disparate pieces together for an engaging, enjoyable read."

"The feeling was overwhelming. Everything was overwhelming right then. At first I could have sworn I was dying. I was looking at a figure, but this figure was so different from anything I had ever discerned. I tried to find my thoughts so that I could establish what I was looking at. I stumbled closer to my window, and that's when it hit me. The figure was a person, a boy in fact. The boy was unalike anything my eyes had ever come in contact with. It wasn't long before I realized what was so unfamiliar about him. He had color."

A beech tree stands creaking, groaning, but never moving. Even when the wind blows, the branches do not stir. It is barren of leaves, all days of the year. Some say it once was alive, that it basked viridian in the spring, offered shade in the summer, and had leaves that turned to warm copper in the fall. But it has changed over the years. It was given a new purpose, a new name. The Whipping Tree.

Seventeen-year-old Penelope (Pen) has lost everything—her home, her parents, and her ten-year-old brother. Like a female Odysseus in search of home, she navigates a dark world full of strange creatures, gathers companions and loses them, finds love and loses it, and faces her mortal enemy. In her signature style, Francesca Lia Block has created a world that is beautiful in its destruction and as frightening as it is lovely. At the helm of LOVE IN THE TIME OF GLOBAL WARMING is Pen, a strong heroine who holds hope and love in her hands and refuses to be defeated.
