And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."

Ellarian is a young elf from the palace of Greenwood. She works hard as a soldier in King Oropher's army. The only one that knows she is a female in the army is the king. But one day in battle, her helmet is kicked off her head in front of Prince Thranduil. She also saves his life. Thranduil falls in love with this stubborn and reckless female solider. His father doesn't permit them to marry. But one day, fate decides to change that. Oropher is killed in battle and Thranduil is made king of Greenwood. Ellarian becomes his queen. She knows fate changes in the blink of an eye. She knows what it is like to face death. But is she ready to die for the thing she loves the most?

Maurielle's stubborn pride may match that of Thranduils. It may get her into trouble but that won't stop her. Will Thranduil and Maurielle's stubbornness pull them apart or draw them together?

DISCLAIMER: 2/3 of this book was written a while ago and my writing has significantly changed and hopefully improved since then.
