Katie Ballard was never excited to move, never excited to make new friends, never excited to do anything with her aunt and uncle, and was never expecting what going to happen to her in the town of San Fernando Valley. Since it was Summer, it made Katie and her "brother" Scotty's life a bit easier. While Scotty tries to make friends, Katie stays home, hoping something will a happen. A best friend, a new friend, anything. When Katie finds out that Scotty made nine friends in less than a week, she can't help but laugh in disbelief. Scott proves that he does have friends, by bringing her to the Sandlot. That day, Katie not only saw proof, but actually became proof.
