The "Kairos" is a highly advanced spaceship that has been built with the specific necessities for the new form of faster-than-light travel named "Einstein-Rosen Travel" named as such because of the need for wormholes in such a way of traveling.
The crew's mission on this advanced vessel is to travel planets in the galaxy that have never been touched by man before, discovering if there is any intelligent life that may exist on those possibly habitable exoplanets in the Milky Way.
During their travels with this fairly new technology of wormhole travel, something goes terribly wrong and they get sucked farther out into the universe than what they were ever planning on going. Far away from their home galaxy without any idea of how to get back home, even with some of the greatest scientists on board.
That's when the crew meets the people of the planet of "Elysia" a rather advanced race of humans that are very much willing to allow them all to join their community, but do they really want to spend the rest of their lives trillions of light-years from their own home?
*****
Or the one where a scientist who's been working on a faster-than-light travel method for his whole professional career is excited to finally be getting to use his newest system of space travel, while a well cherished prince on his home planet of "Elysia" is getting ready to finally come of age to be married.
