A novel set in Cordoba X century during the Umayyad dynasty. Among historical figures such as Al-Mansur (Almanzor) and the Sultana Subh or Aurora, using her Latin name, mingle fictional characters interwoven with historical facts that will make you go through loves, betrayals, emotions, and the dangers of Muslim splendor of time during the Islamic conquest of Hispania in century X. Two plots run in parallel; the first involves the attempt to rescue the power of Hisham II, overshadowed by Al-Mansur's (Almanzor) ambition, and the second in the intricacies of the famous Al-Zahara Palace Library when the discovery of a manuscript of the Koran can change the destiny of Islam and its faithful. The Sierra de Guadarrama is a mountain range of the Central System (mountain range of the center of the Iberian Peninsula) and was south of this chain of mountains that stood the Muslim domains based in Cordoba. As Wattpad does not allow the automatic inclusion of footnotes, I have informed at the end of each chapter the explanation of a typical ancient expression or personage that can generate doubts. So check the end of each chapter to see if your doubt is explained there. According to WattPad rules, it is classified as an adult because it involves one sex scene, which is not described explicitly, and contains episodes of violence. It does not contain pornography. [MOVED TO PATREON] It's not supposed to snow in the South Forest, but the weather in the second-emptiest corner of Shelha is not the only thing behaving strangely. When an ex-tyrant started acting up again, Sethral had hoped it meant the end of lazy days and monotonous, lengthening winters. She is starting to regret what she wished for. Winter the Mountainair has settled in the south, forfeiting her migratory habits and taking a renewed interest in a lifestyle she dropped years ago. Just why is a mystery, but then again, most things about her are. It takes a handful of new friends for Sethral to realize there are still creatures who know who Winter used to be. It takes Winter's reaction to their friendship to realize the tyrant would rather those creatures disappear. Now the peace of the forest may rest on finding those who can help reassemble the world's past and Winter's... before Winter finds them herself. ❖❖❖ Book I of the Stories of Shelha series, a work only split into books because nobody picks up an epic on Wattpad ;) Comments and critiques are welcome. Magic caused the war. Magic is forbidden. Magic will save us. The Relic Guild is the award nominated first book in The Relic Guild trilogy. It was said the Labyrinth had once been the great meeting place, a sprawling city at the heart of an endless maze where a million humans hosted the Houses of the Aelfir. But when the Thaumaturgists, overlords of human and Aelfir alike, went to war, everything was ruined and the Labyrinth became an abandoned prison. The surviving humans were trapped behind boundary walls a hundred feet high, and all magic was forbidden. And now the war is returning. The Relic Guild are all that stand against the end of the city. But they are old, scattered and weak, and the enemy is growing in strength... Here in THE RELIC GUILD (and other stories) please enjoy a large chunk of The Relic Guild Trilogy (published with kind permission of my publisher Gollancz), complete short stories, the odd poem, one or two blog posts, and samples chapters from my other novels.
