This is the story of Jack Lewis, a Shakespeare-quoting violinist who finds herself drawn into a reality she could never have imagined. When a friend is found dead in a dumpster, Jack's search for answers leads her straight to the handsome, mysterious Liam Cerberus. Jack knows trouble follows in his footsteps, even before he reveals his true identity. She is determined to seek justice, despite kidnapping, attack by smug soul-suckers, a scary, debatably vampiric king - and being caught naked one too many times. ***Wattys Longlist*** ***2018 Cupid Awards 2nd Place***

Lizzie railed against that kind of tradition and simply wanted to finish her business degree and return to run the family estate and try to bring the property into the twenty-first century. If she failed in this endeavor, she would be forced to donate the family home to the National Trust as had been the case with so many of England's Great Houses. Lizzie's mother did not believe that Ladies of her station needed a University education. ~ The Dreaming: Old Shalon's Story ~ It's the year 2067, and I am living in the shattered remains of Old Vancouver -- after the Cascadia quake, after WW3, after it all ended. I've been surviving all these years through the help of a young boy named Michael, a wildling, an orphan, one of the Forgotten. He's been with me since he was a little one, but now he's all grown up. This morning he told me he's going to leave Old Vancouver. He wants me to come with him... But that's ridiculous! How can I do that? I'm too old for those kinds of shenanigans.... ------ The Dreaming is a novel series spanning over 200 years and designed to be read in ANY order YOU choose. Start with any of these that interest you: - 2257: Imorah's Story --> Imorah has lived her entire life underground in The Shelter, with a religious cult called The Family. She's never seen the sky or breathed fresh air and The Family is the only thing she's ever known. One day Imorah's Grandmother disappears. They say it was a suicide, but Imorah knows better. The only clue Imorah has is the book that her Grandmother left behind -- a book that Imorah can't even read. - 2257: Liran's Story follows a young man who struggles to survive in the deserts of what is left of North America. One day he finds an old technological relic -- a robot head that still functions -- and Liran is thrust into a dangerous web of secrets and lies. - 2063: Old Shalon's Story --> this is Old Shalon's Story, please read story blurb above. COMING SOON. Starting sometime late in 2015, I will post the last installment of The Dreaming, where these five narratives will collide. Five lives bound together by an ancient book whose language has long died out, in a time and place where books are not only taboo, but could actually get you killed. The Dreaming: a place where time has no meaning, and everything is connected. All rights reserved. Copyright by Shalon Sims, 2019.

Emory has lived in a gloomy mansion underneath the tropical Island of the Fay for nearly two hundred years, perfectly content and perfectly alone. The Raven Queen, the goddess who blesses him and his kind with immortal life in exchange for their service, occasionally sends him on daring missions of thievery that require far more risk and excitement than Emory has ever wanted; still, for the most part his island is a peaceful place, where nothing ever happens. Until the day a massive mud-pit opens, and from it emerges a woman the likes of which Emory has never seen. Midge cannot remember a time before she worked as a dishwasher, errand-girl and all around greyfolk grunt for Titania, the Queen of the Faewild. As part of her duties, she is assigned to serve a visiting dignitary; a mysterious and powerful figure who calls himself Chevalier. Though Midge trusts no fae, Chevalier manages to trick her into a portal that sends her hurtling through planes of existence, until she lands hard upon Emory's island. Midge doesn't like Emory, and Emory doesn't like anyone at all; despite their differences, they are forced to work together to discover Chevalier's ultimate intentions, and thwart his designs upon their destiny.

What if we were the first in our part of the galaxy to discover the secret of faster than light travel? What if this discovery was 10,000 years before it was supposed to be? Our neighbors had been watching for centuries and were surprised with our early arrival into the Web of Worlds... The Year is 2166: To the people of Earth, the universe seemed to be a very lonely place. Astronomers have discovered tens of thousands of planets; many had indications of organic life. SETI had been searching for signals for over 200 years. There had been a few tantalizing bits of radio or radar energy received but nothing ever proven to be of intelligent origin. But there was an alien civilization out there, in fact many of them linked together in a Web of Worlds. They were watching us quietly, carefully and patiently. It had long been the prime directive of the Web that no developing civilization be contacted until that civilization made it into interstellar space on their own; and that always took time, lots of time. Most Web worlds took 1,000 years or more to go from steam to the atom and none had made it from the atom to a sublight stardrive in less than 5,000 standard years. Every civilization of The Web had proven that faster than light travel was impossible, so there was plenty of time to watch the Earth... The watchers were astounded with the speed of progress of human science and also horrified at the periods of violence. By 2076 nuclear fusion power was widespread on earth. By 2100 the first interplanetary fusion ships explored the Sol system. The men and women of the Anglosphere Alliance began their first missions in ships approaching 0.1c. At that velocity, manned flight to even the nearest stars would take a lifetime. What would happen if a beautiful engineer and a brilliant physicist stumbled upon an artificial gravity field which would make a faster than light drive possible...
