Gaia was once beautiful with creatures woven from threads of magic and wonder.
Some were good, once.
Most however had always seen mortals as weak prey
For years, the balance tipped creatures of magic unleashing havoc upon humankind. Villages fell. Kingdoms withered. Hope became nothing more than a whisper into an uncaring wind.
The gods, who had once shaped mortals with such delicate pride, grew despondent as they watched their beloved creations stumble toward extinction. They wished, sorely and desperately, to undo the mistake of their lesser spawn demons, fae, and the cursed who spat upon the sanctity of mortal life.Among them, none wept harder than Luna, goddess of the moon and of life. From her silent throne among the stars, she was forced to bear witness to the horrors below.
Every night she wept her tears falling from the heavens, trailing from the tips of stars like silver rain.
Where her tears struck the earth, miracles bloomed.
In the deepest forests, among the beasts she loved beyond her own soul, her tears coated the wolves wild, noble beings who once chased the stars she tossed into the sky for sport. Under the soft glow of her sorrow, they changed.
No longer mere beasts.
Not quite men.
Something in between.
Something more.
When she saw them standing beneath her moonlight eyes fierce, hearts wild, bodies humming with the old magic she knew.
These wolves were her answer.
They would bring balance to a world on the verge of ruin.
Vampires? Parasites who fed on life's blood.
The fae? Drunken shits in silk and flowers, merry with murder.
Merfolk? Glittering sea whores with a taste for mortal flesh.
Trolls? Idiots, barely worth the stones they lived under.
Zombies? Filthy puppets, birthed from spells.
Witches? Power-hungry traitors who sold their souls and spat on humanity.
Werewolves?
The beasts who would hunt them all.
Born from sorrow.
Forged by love.
Blessed by the moon herself.
They were coming.
And this time, the monsters would know fear.
