Luca Bakker, a football jock with haunted eyes and a pretty Dutch accent. And Theodore Hart, a shy kid from school who works at the local pet shop. The idea that the two could ever cross paths - let alone build any sort of relationship - was almost laughable. And yet, here we are. Laughing away.

After a devastating disease wipes out most of humanity, 16-year-old Cameron MacRiada must survive alone when he misses his scheduled evacuation. ***** "0800 hours. It's been four days since I stopped going to school. Seven since the last teacher stopped showing up though, so I reckon there's not much point any more. My dad was raging - he thinks that teachers have a duty to their students or something. I did point out that their contracts probably didn't include an apocalypse clause, but here we are." Three years after the Infection first ravaged humanity, mankind is on the brink of extinction. Society is collapsing; resources are exhausted; the British Sanctuaries are overwhelmed by the constant influx of evacuees. And in the midst of the chaos, a secluded boy in the Scottish highlands decides to document his isolated lifestyle as he awaits evacuation. Who knew the apocalypse could be so fucking boring? ~a story told in sound~

Micah Greeneway is invisible. Not the teen angst kind but actually invisible. It's hereditary, a family secret locked up like Area 51, but that's not really how he rolls. Even with his mother's disapproval, Micah continues the vigilante life style. After all, it's not that dangerous, right? Because no one can see him coming, literally. Except being a vigilante isn't as glamorous as Hollywood makes it out to be. Suddenly, Micah not only finds himself being noticed by the soccer boy next door but also some unsavory characters that want to abuse this so-called gift to commit a heinous crime. Now he has to juggle keeping his friends and loved ones safe while also maintaining his own personal morals. It's time for Invisible Boy to step up and be a real hero or watch all his hard work disappear just as quick as he can.

On a whim he writes them a message back. Days later, he returns to the locker to find a post-it note response waiting for him. From there a timid friendship between seeming strangers strikes up and North finds himself becoming increasingly curious about the person on the other end of his messages, to the point where he stops fighting the feeling that maybe there's something more beginning to grow between them. *PART OF THE "STORY IN A NIGHT" COLLECTION* Started: March 20th 2020 (Chapters 1-20) March 24th 2020 (Chapters 21-22) Completed: April 12th 2020 (Chapters 23-27) * FIRST PLACE 'AUTHORS BOOKS AWARDS' SHORT STORY CATEGORY: 14-08-2020 *Watty's Shorts Finalist: 12-11-2020 *Watty's Shorts Winner: 05-12-2020

Damian Ryker wakes up in his room, the one with the chirping alarm and the mirror hanging on the door. All is as it should be, but something isn't sitting right with him. Something that only one other person will be able to understand. -------------- Thanks for all the love and support for "a.u.", everyone! As thanks, here's a short story featuring the main characters that's been ruminating in my writing notebook for months. Literally none of it will make sense if you haven't read the original story, so would recommend checking that out first, especially since this takes place after the fact. Is this canon? That's up to you to decide! For more information, check out the "Updates" chapter at the end of the original story. Enjoy!

Felix's brother Dylan is getting married, and Felix isn't happy about it. For one thing, his brother is an abusive jerk. For another, a wedding and a new extended family means that at some point, someone is going to try to give him a hug. Felix hates to be touched--a quirk that has kept him from having a romantic relationship with anyone, and that he thinks will doom him to be forever alone--an idea that actually doesn't bother him all that much. What's bothering him is the brother of his future sister-in-law--Isaac Mason. Isaac is everything Felix is not--athletic, outgoing, and very physical. And for some reason, he just won't leave Felix alone. The other thing that's bothering him is the secret he's carrying around about this brother. Can he let his brother's fiance marry a man who might be abusive without at least warning her? And what other secrets is his brother hiding? The more Felix learns about Dylan's Perfect Wedding, the less he likes the idea. Too bad he's agreed to plan most of it. As the day of the event draws near and more secrets come to light, Felix may have to choose between love and truth. ---------------------- Warnings: This story contains strong language, explicit sexual content, and depictions of abuse (not graphic). ---------------------- This is a work of fiction. [BxB] Life was pretty average for Culver Fleet, an 18-year-old certified couch potato slash pothead. He has spent every waking breath dodging responsibilities, until one fateful day he is swooped by a magpie and is... changed. He thought he just caught the bird flu, but then he started growing wings, like a budget avian Spiderman. Birdman? No. Birdboy. Well, at least until he and his friends actually agree on a real hero name. --- Culver Fleet is your average 18-year-old boy, who goes to university when he feels like it, which is essentially never. His days are spent lounging on his couch with his laptop on his stomach, sharing a joint with friends or dodging life's responsibilities. He does nothing and is nothing, but he has no problem with that. In fact, he enjoys it. No expectations, no responsibilities, no worries. But that all ends when Culver gets swooped by a magpie on a seemingly mundane trip to pick up some weed. A scratch and a peck, and suddenly he's growing wings and other avian attributes. And what's a boy supposed to do when he's suddenly a budget avian Spiderman and there are plenty of bad people causing havoc in the world? Well, be a superhero, of course. This is the story of a lazy suburban Birdboy (name pending), his friends and their journey to save the world, one swoop at a time.
