L'histoire l'a décrit comme un personnage sanguinaire, assoiffé d'atrocités et d'horreurs. Certains disent de lui qu'il était habité d'un démon, d'autres le pensaient simplement déséquilibrer et d'autres encore voyaient en lui, la folie destructrice de son auguste mère. On disait aussi de lui être un musicien incomparable et un grand amoureux des arts romains. Mais sa réputation déjà bien entachée avait plus encore sombrée, avec ce malencontreux incident. Cette accalmie qui ne se déclara qu'à l'époque de son règne. Le grand incendie de Rome.... Et malgré les grandes actions de l'empereur suite au carnage, l'histoire n'avait pu s'empêcher de le décrire comme un personnage aussi sanguinaire que l'eût été son oncle Caligula. Aujourd'hui encore, le doute s'insurge... Quelles pouvaient bien être les motivations du jeune empereur ? Qui croire ? Que penser ? Fallait-il s'en remettre à l'histoire ? Ou alors fallait-il que l'histoire soit remise en cause ? Néron était-it vraiment l'odieux personnage décrit par Tacite ? Plongez dans les méandres de la plus vielle des civilisations jamais construites, à une époque où même le geste le plus innocent n'était que conspirations politiques et laissez l'histoire vous transporter au cœur de couloirs défendus.
