Rockie Torres (Teyana Taylor) was a runaway foster child who grew up on the gritty streets of Harlem. Forced to learn how to survive at an early age, she crossed paths with Ade Malcolm (Columbus Short), a streetwise hustler who always had her back. Ade looked out for Rockie, slipping her money when she needed it and keeping an eye on her well-being. Ade was the leader of a major drug ring in the city, working alongside his close friend and partner, Izaak Ralphs (Omari Hardwick). Their empire thrived until Ade was arrested for drug possession and sentenced to fifteen years in prison. Behind bars, Ade feels betrayed by the very system that shaped him. Determined to regain control of his life and sharpen his mind, he decides to start playing chess, seeing it as a way to stay one step ahead and prepare for the moves he'll make when he gets out.
