Jacob Anderson didn't have quite the knack for love, or anything remotely romantic for that matter. It wasn't that he was ugly, no, he was fairly average-looking. Brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin. He didn't have girls falling for him left to right nor did he sleep with every girl in sight. He was just Jacob. Jacob Anderson, the boy who fell in love. Mabel Clark had no idea how things happened how they did, but they happened. One day, she just found herself living in Québec, attending a large school and sitting beside the most persistent person she'd met in her life. Somehow, a friendship sprouted between the two teenagers. Eventually, their feelings connected - and their lips, too. It all felt too good to be true. But he soon realized that love never lasted as long as you'd like it to. © Fondre ™ 2018

(Previously known as Park Benches) They both sat beside each other in silence, the cool autumn wind blowing through the night. The boy turned slightly to look at the girl, letting out a puff of air and sighing deeply, trying to get her attention. She didn't notice, but he continued to gaze at her. "Have you ever noticed that even though we're just friends, we look at each other like we're about to kiss?" He asked, laughing quietly as he shook his head. "But, 'just friends' don't look at each other like that," she frowned, but began to laugh along with him. "Is that a bad thing?" He questioned once his laughter died down, cocking his head to the side in slight confusion. She shrugged. "Does it matter? We're only friends, me loving you probably wouldn't make a difference." The words stung her, but it didn't matter. She'd already fallen for him but it was whatever. He didn't like her back. And it was all because of the stars and that stupid, stupid park bench. © Fondre ™ 2017

Reilly Jones works at Ruby's Inn. A prominent diner in Red Oak. She's young, naive and last but certainly not least, one of the only black waitresses working there. She tries to keep a low profile and to herself but little does she know she's on the radar of every guy in a five-mile radius of the Ruby's. However, she thinks herself an average girl, like any other. Only her mother died when she was little and her father spent most of his time at the local bar nursing more than one beer, and she has the mental scars that tell differently. That and she longs to be important ... a least to someone. Gerard Grant always gets the girl. He's a strikingly gorgeous cowboy, not afraid to speak his mind and as typical rich guys go ... he's arrogant. He takes pride in overseeing his family's ranch but when he's not working the ranch, he likes to have fun. Being oh so sure of himself, he gets in on a seemingly harmless bet with a few of his cowhands. The Bet: to get the most unbelievably beautiful and unattainable girl in town, Reilly Jones, to go out with them. Being who he is, he doesn't expect her to toss Iced Tea in his face or worse, reject him and it stings. I look out into the parking lot and squint to make sure I'm not going crazy. Walking up with a bouquet of flowers is Justin. He's wearing a muscle tee, and my eyes settle on the part of his tattoo that's not covered up by the plastic holding the flowers. When he reaches me, I feel my face heat up and before I can say anything, he hands me the yellow roses. "I think we need a do over, and I'm not letting you go. But um...here's to friendship until then. If you'll accept." He looks so flustered and unsure of himself as I eye the flowers but don't take them immediately. It takes a long time for me to both find my voice and lose my pride. Finally I do something neither of us expect, and hug him by his neck. "Okay," I whisper, and don't let go.
