The bad reputation of that school is thanks to the high number of delinquents and low grades at the school. Since he technically is a delinquent himself, it doesn't matter to him. What does matter, however, is how the school appears to have a leader ruling over the delinquents just like his. He hears that the "leader" is a *girl* named Mikasa.
