2019 WATTY AWARD WINNER | TO BE PUBLISHED BY 'W BY WATTPAD' IN FALL 2024 Jessie is a twenty first century kinda gal stuck in the Regency Era. Armed with a new university degree and a plane ticket to Paris, the plan was to celebrate graduation in the City of Love, kissing as many drunk French girls (or boys, she's not picky) as she can. Only, she never makes it. Mid-Atlantic, a mysterious accident sends Jessie hurtling to what should be a watery grave. Rescued from the ocean, Jessie is lucky to be alive. Only problem? The crew of the ship she's on is convinced it's a sailing vessel that just narrowly missed out on participating in the Battle of Trafalgar. Stuck in Regency-era England, Jessie is left with no choice but to enter into the services of as a maid and companion in return for what shelter her new employer can provide, and resign herself to a life of quiet servitude and forever hiding her sexuality. What she didn't count on was that her new boss would be Margaret Goodenough - the world famous authoress whose yet-to-be-completed novel was the first lesbian kiss in the history of British Literature, and a clever woman. Clever enough to know her new servant has a secret. Now Jessie is caught. Margaret's own perception of her place in society is transforming, the text of her novel is slowly changing, and Margaret herself is finally unafraid to embrace her own Sapphic desires. Margaret - and her main characters - are turning into irresistibly headstrong and modern women. Jessie must tread the tenuous line between finding her own happiness in a world where she is alone, and accidentally changing the course of history. Should Jessie suppress the manuscript, or is her duty to the woman she's learning to love? What is a twenty first century gal to do? * Cover Photo: Jenn LeBlanc & Getty Images Original Cover by: @RodneyVSmith

Set in Victorian Poland is a tale about a stubborn young woman named Elsa whose father runs a society solely for vampyre hunting. Elsa does not believe in such tales, until she comes across a mysterious man at a ball interested in her mother's old pocket watch... and possibly her blood. When Elsa wakes and finds herself in an enchanted mansion and is not able to leave, she realizes that the man she'd danced with was no man at all, but a vampyre. Elsa is desperate to escape, but what she'll discover out in the world might just be darker than the mysterious, manipulative vampyre who has captured her... perhaps even darker. In a world where superpowers make you either a celebrity or a criminal, Aether chose a long time ago where she stands. A metahuman who can change her appearance, Aether is currently on top of the game, the public face of government-sponsored superheroes in United America. She does have her share of problems: petty criminals, annoying coworkers, supervillains who have escaped justice for far too long... and the growing sense that being on top of the game just means having a target on her back. At the other end of the scale, the villain Lucid has just been forced out of hiding and back into the game - by a reporter who paid for her nosiness with her life. Lucid reluctantly joins up with the other supervillains and is immediately sucked into a convoluted scheme that could change the definition of superhumanity. Aether is having trouble trusting her teammates as they scramble to keep innocent civilians out of the crossfire. The question is: if Lucid just wants to quit the game, why is she so hell-bent on taking Aether out with her?

{Original Story} Having supernatural powers should feel like a blessing, but for Jack Parker, the most powerful Gifted in the world, it means he gets to be haunted by ghosts, hallucinations, and premonitions. Oh, and he's also on the run to stay one step ahead of a murderous cult and an ancient evil nicknamed Death. So much for being special. Maya Park thought her powers were incredible until she finds out about the danger they put her in. All she wants is to go home, but how can she do that without jeopardizing her family's safety? Anna van Danne prefers a typical, non-murderous lifestyle, but the cult expects more from her. If she has to kill Jack Parker and devour his Gift to stay in their good graces -- and maybe make a name for herself in the process -- then so be it. No one knows what's going to happen. All they can do is wait and see who survives and hope that Death doesn't take over the world in the meantime.

Five-year-old Kendall Frodell is a genius and has been ever since she was born. The fact that she can and does read high school material, can mentally solve a wide array of equations, and has an incredible memory for trivia could've all easily skipped her from Kindergarten to fifth grade. But Kenny's intelligence (along with her voice) hides behind vague, situation-based index cards and rewritten answers. Things quickly change when she becomes afflicted with peculiar fainting spells-- ones where she walks, writes, and even solves equations while seemingly unconscious. Her erudition is unwillingly revealed, and she's whisked off to an academy for people like her. Very suddenly becoming aware of a whole society of gifted children, school has never been more challenging. An enforced social hierarchy, infamously harsh teachers, blockheaded children-- and the brief disappearances of her classmates only add to everything. In the style of both Ender's Game and the X-Men, The Prodigies is a piece of speculative fiction that will leave you...curious. Highest Ranking: #2 in Science Fiction [©2017-2018.
