The Golden Trio and their friends are all back to finish their last and final year at Hogwarts after the traumatic Second Wizarding War. However, when Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy are selected as Head Boy and Head Girl, the two enemies are inevitably forced to spend time together for the concluding year. Additionally, they unknowingly still face the impending threat of what is left of Lord Voldemort's dark forces. In spite of the turbulent year that is to come, Hermione soon discovers the real complexity of post-war Draco while Draco discovers new feelings and hope in his troubled life. Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy couldn't be more different. She's quiet, polite, a role model to everyone she knows, and even those she doesn't, and the brightest student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He's arrogant, annoying and the trademark jerk that every Slytherin is rumoured to be. By respect for the ancient feud between Gryffindor and Slytherin, Draco and Hermione hate each other, rarely ever having contact except for the undying attraction they seem to have for each other - one that doesn't go unnoticed by the rest of the school. The pair do everything in their power to resist the urge, but sometimes fate has other ideas.

After the war Hermione is in invited back to Hogwarts to complete her seventh year along with Harry, Ron, Ginny and Draco. Ron and Hermione end their relationship and decide to be friends. Hermione and Draco have to spend a lot of time together as head boy and girl. Everyone distrusts Draco but Hermione believes he can change. Hermione is troubled by the events of the war and both she and Draco have frequent nightmares driving the two of them almost to the point of insanity.
