When kids are young and full of innocent wonder, they're asked the question that will haunt them far into their adult lives: what do you want to be when you're older? Kyleigh Frost's answer to this very question was that she wanted to be thin. Ever since she could remember, all she wanted to do with her life is to be the skinniest girl out of everyone she met on the streets. If she couldn't be the brightest kid in her school or win the next cycle of America's Next Top Model, she might as well be the thinnest one there. After all, to be fat is the biggest sin one could ever commit in today's society.

"Could you please stop? Just stop it. Stop trying to crack my head open and pour sunshine in. I don't want it!" I screamed at the woman who did what I hated the most. Counseling me. "But, Miss Sparks-" she tried to reach for me. "I said stop it! There's no pot of gold at the end of this f*cking monochrome rainbow, okay? I know I tried to kill myself, who cares if I do it again and succeed this time? I'm already dead inside!" I again curled into a ball, my nails digging into my skin to keep myself together. I can't move on. I can't live. I'm not supposed to be alive. I just want to be left alone. But they wouldn't leave me alone. He should leave me alone. He told me that he cared. But nobody cares, at least not for me. Yes, this is my story. Don't worry it won't be long. It'll end soon enough. Because this is the story of how society took a life that is not worth saving.

Charlotte “Charlie” Crawford is practically the definition of a nerd. She gets extraordinary grades, works at her family’s comic book store, and most importantly, she never gets into trouble—ever. Hunter Greene is supposedly the epitome of a bad-boy. He gets into fights, is on a first name basis with the school principal, and most importantly, he is infamous for breaking the rules. When Charlie is assigned to be Hunter’s tutor, she doesn’t think she will be able to handle him and his antics. But after the two warm up to each other, Charlie realizes that Hunter isn’t at all who everyone else thinks he is. High school life is going to be one tumultuous roller coaster ride for Charlie and Hunter, but together they might be able to make it through what could be the ride of their lives—especially since they’ll be under each other’s influences.
