Deathstroke didn't have to. He really didn't have to. Finding a small black haired and blue eyed boy on the grimy streets of Gotham was never part of the plan. Taking him wasn't either. Raising him was out of the question. But here he was, Deathstroke the Terminator, raising a wisecracking apprentice who could simultaneously make the mercenary proud and get on his every nerve. Deathstroke trained the boy, trained him well. But something made him hesitate, something like fear. Deathstroke would never admit it, never out loud anyway, but in all his years of killing and living up to his name... he didn't want to lose that boy. After the death of his parents, Dick Grayson is taken in by his Uncle and trained to be a Talon. He has been training and preparing for four years of his life, and he only needs to do one thing until he can officially become a Talon. He needs to kill someone.... But he can't. So, he runs away and seeks refugee in Gotham. While there he meets some interesting people. A man, who dresses as a bat and fights crime, and a team of teenagers who also fight crime on their spare time. What will happen when he meets the team and Batman? And what will happen when they meet him?

After threats from Slade and the Court of Owls wanting Robin to join them the team are sent to protect Dick Grayson, unknowing that it is their team leader.
