Alec grabbed the front of his shirt, pulling him down next to him. It was like he was embarrassed to meet his eyes, because he instead pressed his face into Mark's chest. For a moment, Mark was worried that Alec would hear his pounding heart with his head pressed into his chest, but then he realized he didn't really care. Before the other boy could fall back asleep, he asked a question. "Alec, why did you pretend to be drunk?" He knew that in asking this, he was admitting to the other boy that he cared. Alec's head lifted and he looked up at him with wide eyes "You know why." Their gazes locked, and Mark didn't dare blink. He thought back to Adam's words from earlier. Take the time to understand. So Mark did. He thought of his hands on Alec, taking advantage of the fact that the boy was wasted and most likely wouldn't remember in the morning. Then he thought about how he wasn't the only one to put his hands there. Sometimes they were guided, by Alec's own hands, and it realized that that if he wasn't drunk at the time, but sober, then Alec must have wanted his hands there. And then, Mark understood.

Deeply hurt by a lover's betrayal, Noah Hunter leaves a shattered life behind and moves to Spring Lakes to join his brother's pack. All he wants is a quiet place and some time to heal. Fate has other ideas. In the middle of the night, on a lonely stretch of road, Noah hits a dog. When he brings the injured animal to a veterinarian, he crosses paths with the singular, mysterious, and aggravatingly handsome Ambrose Thorne. When, after learning that Noah needs a place to stay, Ambrose invites him to his home, Noah thinks he may have found just the sort of peace and space he needs, and the last thing he expects is to become entangled in the heart of a mystery. While helping his brother Dane on a case involving a string of inexplicable thefts, Noah soon discovers that his new acquaintance is more than he seems and is inextricably tied to the strange burglaries. As the case becomes complicated by occult rituals, murder, and mythical beasts, Noah finds himself in more than one kind of danger - because while he doubts that anyone would want something so broken and torn, it seems like his heart might get stolen, too. He just hopes that the one who steals it and the thief at the heart of the mystery are not one and the same. ----- WARNINGS: This story contains strong language, some violence, and sex. ----- DISCLAIMER: This is a work of fiction. After uncovering a series of grisly murders, the Holy Church sends Seren to investigate one of their prime suspects; a mysterious dhampir named Lore Seymour. Although a seemingly kind man and wonderful father, Lore's life is a riddle overcome by tragedy that may or may not have come by his own hands. His actions are an enigma, often pushing Seren away while also dragging him closer. Through time spent together, Seren begins to see Lore, and his wacky family, in a different light. Could it be that the church sent Seren there to set Lore up? All that he has been taught by the church, who saved him from a gruesome fate, starts to sound like a lie, but the life of a paladin is all Seren has ever known. As suspicion fades and love blossoms, Seren's forced to test not only his faith, but also his entire purpose in life. Can he truly set aside his grievances against vampires to love that which he has been trained to kill? Warning: This story will dive into some troubling topics such as child abuse, spousal abuse, sexual assault, suicide, murder, drug use, manipulation, brain washing, and just over all bad. However, I keep the tone as light-hearted as I can and there will not be detailed scenes. I'll also leave warnings on chapters that contain triggers. *THIS IS NOT A PAID STORY! There is behind the scenes content that is purchasable, but not necessary to read. That's why there are some locked chapters, but the story itself is FREE ^_^ Artwork by mailanoooo on instagram

When Alistair Melek gave his life to the sea, a various degree of things changed. For starters, his love for bloodshed was exemplified. Bolder. He was drawn to the clash of a sword, blood spiling below to floorboards, like a moth drawn to a flame. And this love was damned to spread through his crew as some treacherous disease, claiming any and all who joined. But he knew this was the price he'd pay. The price for the sea itself. So when his crew completes another standard loot and pillage from a merchant ship, he allows his men a bit of fun. He liked to give them an audience, rounding up those who didn't fall victim to the blade during battle, and forcing them to beg for their lives. To prove how much they really wanted to live. Alistair had ruled the sea for some years now. Killed thousands, maybe tens of thousands. Destroyed hundreds, maybe thousands of vessels. And yet, each feeble human was all the same. There was not one man he threatened that didn't beg for their lives with all they had in them when faced with the wrong end of the sword. Each feeble human was always the same. Or so he thought. And yet, he also thought that this would be one standard job. A treat for his men after a night of good work. But this particular survivor, the one with long white hair and dead looking eyes... He wasn't a merchant. He couldn't have been. More important, there was no hesitancy when Alistair asked the fairly built man whether he wanted to live, and the man replied with a simple no.

Fifteen years after King Leonardo's death, his surviving son, Fabian, still throws a festival each year in remembrance of his dead father, mother, and brother. Being the only one to survive, witnesses claimed his crowning as king had been as sombre as the funeral. James has lived on the streets since childhood with nothing but his relic sword, Eris, living a profitable life killing for money. But, at twenty-five, James received a request from a client who refused to be identified. It was a request that would threaten the life he had built-tear down everything he'd made. A request that, once he heard, he knew he wouldn't be allowed to live and refuse. A request to kill King Fabian. [Book 1 in the Red King series]
