Gerard is barely surviving until a new neighbor moves in next door, and for the first time in ages, Gerard finds himself with a friend that isn't his little brother. Gerard never imagined that one beautiful boy could change everything for him, but he can't ignore the way Frank makes him feel, or the improvements he has seen in himself. Gerard is aware that he is falling in love with Frank even though he knows it is wrong...he is seventeen while Frank is only thirteen. Gerard's mindset is very different from everyone else in his grade. Nobody understands him, except for his brother, and not by much. When Gerard's "older" brother leaves early for college, he gives the job of watching over Gerard to his closest friend Frank Iero. For at the least four years Mikey will be gone, both Frank and Gerard have to learn to understand each other, and hopefully make it through the school year alive.

Though he wasn't completely naïve - he knew that the presence of Gerard's apparently suicidal ex-boyfriend was going to make things difficult, but he didn't know that his intense distrust of the man would start to break down the relationship he'd tried so hard to keep. And then lies upon lies upon lies from everybody start to build, until nobody's sure of the truth anymore.
