Young Shoto Todoroki was supposed to be meditating before training. He chanced a glance up in the rafters of the giant training hall his father had confined him to for the day while he was away on hero business. His mismatched gaze scanned the dark rafters above trying to locate the bubbly cat girl that often snuck into the Todoroki compound to play.

Harper Rye can, to put it simply, read minds. It's not something she consciously does. Her quirk simply allows her to pick up people's thoughts, regardless of whether she wants to or not. The fact that she can't turn it off makes having such a power nearly unbearable. To make matters worse, she's somehow managed to fall under the radar of the super-genius principal of UA high, Nezu. He's sure there's a traitor amongst them, and is convinced Harper is the key to finding them and shutting them down. Plunged into a world she never wanted to be in, Harper finds herself on the fast track to becoming a hero, maybe managing to make some friends for once in her life, and quite possibly saving Japan from near-certain destruction.

Shoto had known her practically his entire life. Some thought that she was the clingy one, but he was well aware that he was the one always wanting to stand beside her and watch her flowers bloom radiantly from the roots going on her arms and in her hair, because only she had proven capable of blooming despite heat or frost, and he would protect every growing bud if it meant he could continue to be beside her.
