Rather than cold, the word lonely suits him better. His cynical smile, his eyes - they all look empty. It was like he was tired of everything; traditions, the world, fate.
I turned to face him and asked for his name. He only answered, "Noah", as if understanding my reason for questioning. As he opened his mouth to announce that my time is up, we both froze and stared at each other incredulously. It seemed that the world was keen to make a plot twist in my ending story and the empty pages of his life to pair us up as destined mates.
His face was torn in between shock, joy and terror. He called out my name and reached out for me, to pull me away from the cliff of my supposedly destined place of death. It pained me to see him that way, so afraid and hopeful, but it pained me more to even imagine a life with a sadistic mate like him.
So I jumped, into the dark abyss of death, away from the terrors of my mate.
